Ecosystem based fishery management considers the broader impacts of fisheries on ecosystem structure and function With a goal of ensuring that in is not just stocks that are sustainable but ecosystems more broadly.  However, the concept of ecosystem-based management is inherently cross-sectoral because all sectors of human activity impact marine ecosystems and all sectors interact.  In this talk I will discuss approaches to analyzing and relating cross-sectoral impacts in a more holistic system, bringing fisheries into the larger context of ecosystem-based management.
