Canaan Valley Institute will review experiences in building partnerships to develop stream and watershed restoration projects in sites around the Mid-Atlantic Highlands. Partnerships have involved state and federal agencies, other non-profits, local watershed groups, and universities. Multi-faceted restoration projects often require a partnership of stakeholders to play different and complementary roles. These partnerships have addressed issues such as acid mine drainage, fish blockages, sediment, bank erosion, and the loss of property. Funding has come from different foundation grants, as well as state and federal programs, and mitigation funds. These experiences will be reviewed for lessons learned in developing restoration projects and partnerships.
