The East River Station, owned by Consolidated Edison, is a steam and electric generating facility located on 14th Street in Manhattan on the East River. Based on a Best Technology Available Study(BTA) and  agreement with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Con Ed completed  installation in 2013 of five (5) Ristroph Dual Flow Screens, associated pumps and fish & debris return troughs with the stated goal of reducing impingement mortality by 90% from the full flow calculation baseline and entrainment by 75% from that same baseline at the cooling water intake structure. The presentation will cover the new installation and projects lessoned learned including a brief overview of the effect and repairs from Super Storm Sandy. In addition, it will  outline the requirements for the implementation of the Verification Monitoring Plan (VMP) required to evaluate the performance of the recently installed BTA for minimizing environmental impacts. Depending on the timing of results, the presentation will also include biological information that will demonstrate if the intake screening, fish return systems meet the performance standards.
