Little is known about the population structure and habitat use of Macrhybopsis chubs (Cyprinidia) in the Missouri River Basin (MRB). The chubs are characteristic of large Great Plains Rivers and serve as important indicators for the health of ecosystems. Environmental parameters and gut contents will be investigated to evaluate the use of habitats whereas genomic sequences will be analyzed to classify different chub species and study population genetic structures. This research will offer a better understanding of ecology and genetics of the chubs and provide insights into the impact of environmental changes on their natural resources and distribution.
