The Great Lakes are an international body of water shared by both Canada and the United States.  To protect the valuable resources these lakes provide to both countries from the threat of Asian carps, binational cooperation is required.  Canada is a member of the Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee and through this group, many prevention activities are underway to ensure Asian carps are not introduced or established in the Great Lakes.  Complementary work is being done with respect to outreach, early detection activities, monitoring, research, and risk assessment.  These elements will be discussed, outlining how the binational activities are being leveraged to benefit both countries from this serious threat.
