This talk gives an overview of black carp in the United States. Basic life history of the species will be discussed. The history of introduction into the United States for Aquaculture uses, escapement, and policies and laws related to the species. Historic and recent collections in the Mississippi River basin are identified and discussed. Future management strategies and ongoing and future research is also presented.
