Multi-Level Documentation: Fish Tales from Arizona's Fisheries Information System (FINS)

Nicole Eiden , Division of Wildlife Management, Arizona Game and Fish Department, Phoenix, AZ
A critical component of making data shareable into the long-term future is to ensure they can interpreted correctly and assessed for fitness-of-use. Documentation can be created at many levels. However, this component of the data life cycle is often overlooked after the exciting data compilation and analysis has taken place. This presentation will focus on methods for describing data at the project and data levels to provide an overall higher level context while covering specifics on individual datasets. Another tier of data documentation is getting your data ready to be cataloged and discovered. The project lead for Arizona Game and Fish Department's Fisheries Information System will share fish tales spanning the last few years with examples from spatial and non-spatial FINS projects and datasets.
