Ali Forsythe , U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Fresno, CA

The San Joaquin River Restoration Program is the result of a 2006 Settlement Agreement that transformed one of the West's longest water battles between farmers, the federal government and a coalition of fishing and environmental groups into one of the largest river restoration projects in the nation. The overarching goals of the Restoration Program are to restore flows to 150 miles of California’s second largest river along with a self-sustaining Chinook salmon fishery while also making water management improvements to reduce or avoid water supply impacts.  This presentation will briefly discuss the history of the River, key points of the Settlement Agreement, and the accomplishments of the Program that is led by state and federal agencies with involvement from a broad array of stakeholders.
