The Marine Planning Partnership for the North Pacific Coast (MaPP) is a co-led partnership between the Province of British Columbia and 18 member First Nations. Recently, MaPP completed four marine use plans for: Haida Gwaii, North Coast, Central Coast and North Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The initiative used the best available science and local and traditional knowledge to develop these plans with the goal to provide recommendations for marine management, including protection, uses and activities, and climate change adaptation.  The plans will also inform decisions regarding the sustainable economic development and stewardship of British Columbia’s coastal marine environments. This presentation will provide an overview of the some of the recent marine planning work undertaken by the MaPP partners with particular emphasis on the key elements of the plans, both spatial and non-spatial, and the information and data sources used in the process.  The presentation will also highlight the use of ShoreZone datasets to inform the spatial recommendations in near shore environments.
