Science Communication: Lessons Learned, Best Practices and the Future

The recent decade has seen a proliferation of new media communication tools like blogs, wikis, open access journals and various social media platforms. Collectively, these new tools are reshaping science communication like never before. In this symposium, we move from building awareness and acceptance of social media as a critical science communication tool to understanding how non-profit organizations, governments, academics, educators and science communicators are utilizing and leveraging new media communication tools for information delivery. Presentations will discuss science communication insights from multiple perspectives (e.g., print, electronic, audio/visual, etc.) and speak to the future of science communication.
