NOAA Fisheries is the federal agency responsible for the stewardship of the nation’s ocean resources and their habitat.  To fulfill its mission, the agency depends on having fisheries scientists with technical skills that span across disciplines and demonstrated competency with key “soft skills”, particularly in the areas of communication, teamwork, and project management.  This talk will provide an overview of some high need and growing career fields at NOAA Fisheries and key skills sets (including recommended courses and trainings) needed for these career fields.  It will also provide an overview of NOAA internships, scholarships, and fellowships available to undergraduate and graduate students interested in fisheries science.  Finally, the presentation will highlight web-based resources and online learning opportunities available to students and the broader fisheries community interested in learning more about NOAA Fisheries science and education opportunities.
