Implementing a Triploid Grass Carp Program in Illinois

Illinois regulates the importation, possession, production, sale and stocking of Grass Carp to certified triploids only.  During the past 30 years, adjustments to statutes and administrative rules have been employed to maintain a regulatory framework to reduce diploid Grass Carp introduction into the environment from both unintentional and deliberate releases.  This presentation will outline the history of Grass Carp importation, certification, and stocking and the historical development of the triploid Grass Carp program in Illinois.  Grass Carp policy of neighboring jurisdictions and their effects on Illinois policy also will be discussed.
