In the spring of 2015, two individuals reported two separate and very unique incidents.  The first reported having a lake sturgeon in his back yard!  Sure enough!  The fish nicknamed “Norman the Sturgeon” had traveled 30 miles upstream in Dardenne Creek through the middle of the urban sprawl of St. Louis, Missouri.  At the same time, and also in the St. Louis area, an angler pulled out his cell phone and recorded the first documented lake sturgeon spawning event in Missouri in over 100 years.  Learn how these two reports started a media storm that included numerous interviews for Missouri Department of Conservation staff on radio, TV, for an international news website, and to the front page of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper!
