The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission’s Division of Habitat Management has two programs to assist citizens, agencies and organized groups with fish habitat/stream bank and shoreline stabilization issues. These include the Cooperative Habitat Improvement Program (CHIP) and the Technical Assistance Program (TAP). Under CHIP and TAP, the Commission provides assistance with project design, permitting, supervision of construction and potentially, financial support. Programs are applicable to both stream and lake projects across the Commonwealth and will be discussed in detail. Further discussion will focus on specific stream projects using structures that include deflector variations, cross stream devices, bank cribbing and mid channel devices.
