The Connecticut Seafood Council, with the assistance of the Connecticut Department of Agriculture and Connecticut Sea Grant, has undertaken several efforts to generate greater interest in, and demand for, locally grown or harvested seafood. Programs have targeted chefs, seafood buyers, farmers' markets, and promoters of local foods initiatives. However, success in generating greater demand is threatened by the intermittent availability and supply limitations of local products.
