81-20 Citizen Science: A Great Partnership

Roberta Ayres , California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco, CA
In recent years, the phenomenon of citizen science has been remarkably successful in promoting scientific knowledge.  A large number of scientists have become increasingly interested in engaging more directly with the public, creating opportunities in research, monitoring and management. For the past 8 years, the California Academy of Sciences has led citizen science research in partnership with the Bay Area community. This has resulted in innovative ways to engage and inspire the local community, yielding to both scientific and educational outcomes.
