100-4 Envisioning Future Climate in the Northwest

Philip W. Mote , Oceanic/Atmospheric Sciences, Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR
Several changes are underway that will provide a new view of the future climate and environment of the Northwest. Institutionally, the creation of new decision-focused regional climate science centers in the Northwest provides avenues for serving the ground-level science needs of fish and wildlife managers, policymakers, and planners; these needs include not just data but knowledge.  Scientifically, a new generation of climate modeling results are becoming available, with improved representation of physical processes, finer spatial resolution, more focus on the immediate future (next 10 years), and more attention to important statistical aspects.
