Demonstrating effective leadership while producing positive resource management outcomes requires a psychological awareness and readiness that extends beyond the expertise gathered through formal academic training.  The goal of intensive leadership training programs is to equip natural resource employees with the practical tools and communication skills to address the non-technical facets of resources management.  Decision-making, relationship building, cultural competency, conflict management, and organizational change are skills –among many others –taught in intensive leadership courses.  These skills combined with technical expertise, can be used to produce better leaders and better resource management outcomes.
