92-8 The U.S. Forest Service's Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program: an Overview of a New Approach to Ecosystem Restoration

Megan Roessing , Forest Management staff, U.S. Forest Service, Washington, DC
The Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP) is an innovative new approach to restoration at the landscape-scale. The purpose of the CFLR program is to encourage the collaborative, science-based ecosystem restoration of priority forest landscapes.  In 2010, ten CLFRP projects were selected.  These projects span the country and each project includes partnership efforts on forest restoration treatments that reduce wildfire risk, enhance fish and wildlife habitats, and maintain and improve water quality.  This presentation will provide an overview of the CFLRP program and examples of the restoration work planned and accomplished by the current projects.
