In the study, we conducted a thorough review about research on grass carp in China. We focused on natural distribution, reproductive physiology/endocrinology, reproductive biology/ecology, diet and growth of grass carp at different life stages in their native environment. In this presentation, we will mainly discuss the factors determining the success of invasion (i.e. establishment through naturally spawning, hatching and larval survival/growth) of grass carps and their potential impacts on the invading system (i.e. diet preference and feeding rate, etc).
