Knowledge mobilization (KMb) focuses on the impacts of research for the broader community. The study of KMb has only gained popularity in the last decade in fields such as health sciences and education. In fisheries science, however, little has been explored on how science reaches or adopted by managers, fishers, and other stakeholders. In this presentation, I illustrate the theoretical background of KMb with a synthesis of three years of experience and interactions with managers and stakeholders in the contentious Fraser River pacific salmon fishery. I focus on communication, knowledge networks, knowledge sources and channels of various knowledge users. I present this from the perspective of academic fisheries scientists that are using new technology (i.e. telemetry technology) as a tool to understand salmon ecology and provide management with evidence to make decisions or adjust management models
