Approximately, two years ago the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences (WFSC) evaluated it aquatic curriculum, resulting in its Fisheries Ecology emphasis and Aquaculture emphasis areas being reorganized and consolidated. The newly revised Aquatic curriculum maintained the University core course requirements and the WFSC requirements but reduced the degree program to a total of 120 hours.  This was accomplished by revising some of our aquatic courses and adding three new courses. The major aquatic subject areas covered in the revised curriculum include: Aquatic Ecosystems, Aquaculture I – Principles and Practices, Aquaculture II – Aquatic Animal Nutrition, Feeding and Disease Management, Ecophysiology of Fish, Fisheries Management, Ichthyology, Marine Fisheries, and Wildlife and Fisheries Laws and Administration.

Many of the courses in this curriculum have laboratory components to provide the students will hands-on experience.  In addition, all students must complete an internship which provides them with an opportunity to work and interact with natural resource professionals in public or private organizations.
