127-8 Acquisition, Restoration and Protection as Conservation Tools in the Puget Sound

Morgan Schneidler , Puget Sound Partnership, Tacoma, WA
The Puget Sound Partnership is the State Agency charged with coordinating the restoration of Puget Sound by 2020.  Since it’s inception the Partnership has worked with broad constituent groups to refine and articulate the strategy to achieve this monumental task through the Action Agenda.  The Action Agenda integrates ecosystem and watershed scale plans and describes protection, restoration and pollution prevention strategies that frame and describe both regional and local perspectives on how to move Puget Sound toward a “recovery trajectory”.

This talk will describe the “toolkit” of protection and restoration tools that the Puget Sound Partnership works to deploy in the Puget Sound recovery context.   It will also address how the Partnership deploys these tools from a Puget Sound regional scale to the local project level to create a system that adds up to Puget Sound recovery.
