Twitter Can Change Your Life: Why Fisheries Professionals Should Be Engaged

While the world of social media began purely as way to interact individually on a social level, the science community has quickly tailored these tools for their own purposes.  Organizations, professional societies, agencies, and NGO’s have been utilizing the tools of online communication for a diversity of purposes. For the individual scientist, Twitter has become an active platform to learn about scientific discoveries, provide updates on research, discuss key topics, and advertise funding opportunities, graduate school positions, internships, and jobs.  This talk will explain how fisheries biologists can use Twitter to enrich their professional life, network with colleagues, improve science communication, and search for that perfect job.
