Social networks are more than just Facebook and Twitter--they're the connections that humans make with one another throughout their lives. As the projects that universities are undertaking become more and more interdisciplinary, and as more grant funding opportunities requires partnerships, knowing how to build and maintain these relationships is becoming an essential component to doing science. This presentation will look at how we can track these connections and the  importance of building diverse relationships, following with a discussion of ways of building connections both within and between academic disciplines, as well as with non-academic institutions.
